Chief Operating Officer, The Scripps Research Institute and Calibr
Matt Tremblay is the Chief Operating Officer of Scripps Research and its drug discovery division, the California Institute for Biological Research (Calibr). He is responsible for developing and implementing corporate strategy, including the management of day-to-day operations. He works closely with the Chief Executive Officer to create long-term strategic vision and advance new business development opportunities.
He played a key role in establishing Calibr, where he led a team in the discovery of new therapeutic agents for metabolic, cardiovascular, and autoimmune diseases. As Calibr grew he facilitated the launch of strategic collaborations with major foundations and pharmaceutical companies. He assumed the additional role of VP Business Development before becoming Chief Operating Officer of the combined institutes.
He earned his doctorate in Chemistry at Columbia University. Following postdoctoral work in the laboratory of Peter Schultz at Scripps Research, he led a group at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation.
